When should we expect to receive our physical rewards?
Our last crowdfunding effort saw substantial delays due to COVID so we have given an estimate of November 2022 in order to account for that. However, the book is complete, all the physical rewards have been designed, and our vendors are standing by to produce them, so unless there is an extrinsic reason for a delay (e.g. embargo, war, pandemic) we should deliver them to you sooner than November.

What are the risks to this project?
Our team has handled more than a dozen crowdfunding campaigns in the past. The graphic novel has been written, penciled, inked, lettered, and laid out. The additional pages, if those bonus goals are met, are already planned. The various add-ons are already designed. The primary risk to the project is external factors outside of our control.

Can I get more details on the trading cards?
Yes! There are 24 trading cards in the collection. The characters included are the members of the Star-Spangled Squadron and Exodus seen in the graphic novel as well as a number of Ascendants from the RPG who will be featured in future comics. Each card is double sided featuring a character portrait on one side and statistics about the character’s powers on the other side. Each pack has a mix of 6 random cards from the set.

What pledge should I make if I am primarily interested in the role-playing game?
If you missed out on the Ascendant RPG crowdfunding campaign and want to use this campaign as a chance to pick up a hardcover rulebook, you can do so as an add-on to any pledge of $20 or more. If you pledge for the $300 Gamer Mega Bundle, you get a complete set of Ascendant RPG books and accessories plus all the graphic novel perks.

What is a "sketch cover"?
Sketch covers are blank covers designed to allow an artist to illustrate a unique, personalized image on each copy. Imagine that you bought a copy of Ascendant: Star-Spangled Squadron with a sketch cover. You would then bring that copy to a comic-con or anime expo and commission your favorite artist to draw a personalized cover on the book for you. You could have your sketch cover illustrated by one of the official cover artists, such as Will Conrad, or get a cover made by anyone of your choice.

What is an "ashcan comic"?
Back in the 1930s, publishers would make limited runs of hastily-produced comics just to establish trademarks. Once the trademark was accepted, the comics would be tossed in the ashcan (garbage bin), hence the name “ashcan comic.” Some creators, however, began to keep or give away ashcans as souvenirs and memorabilia. Today, the term has come to refer to souvenir copies of prototype or promotional comics. Our Star-Spangled Squadron ashcan features prototype artwork of Stiletto by Jinky Coronado!

What age range of readers is Ascendant: Star-Spangled Squadron suitable for?
There is no nudity, obscenity, or sex in the graphic novel. However, some combat scenes do depict realistic violence with gore; some dramatic scenes do depict sexually suggestive behaviors; and some speech balloons do includes expletives. Several characters are shown in revealing outfits such as what you find on Instagram. Overall, it has the violence of an action movie combined with the raciness of a hip-hop video. Therefore it’s likely suitable for young adults 13+ but not for children.

What will the cost of shipping be?
We will charge the lowest rates we can based on what is offered by our fulfillment houses. In prior crowdfunding projects, we have seen shipping prices to US backers ranging from $5 to $15 (depending on weight), to Canadian backers ranging from $5 to $35, and to international backers from $30 to $50.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
